So, this was a day spent lying on the soft lawn at Kirstenbosch, watching ever-changing clouds against the blue, drinking and eating whatever lovely thing was passed my way, communing with Egyptian geese, guinea fowl and all kinds of fabulous people, and watching flocks of swallows hunting far, far above us.
It wasn’t deep, it wasn’t expensive and, most of all, it wasn’t angry. People around us ate different things, believed different things, wore different things, spoke a myriad languages and thought a myriad thoughts, but we all stared at the mountains, the blue, the clouds, the fowl – and we loved it.
